💖 Scripture of the Day:
“You will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake and not according to your evil ways.” — Ezekiel 20:44
Ezekiel 20–21 reveal both God’s patience and His holiness. In chapter 20, the elders of Israel come to inquire of the Lord, but instead of receiving comfort, they are confronted with their long history of rebellion—from Egypt to the wilderness to the promised land. Yet God repeatedly showed mercy for the sake of His name. Chapter 21 then shifts dramatically with the image of God’s sword—sharpened and ready to execute judgment on Jerusalem and the nations. Together, these chapters show us a God who will not tolerate sin forever, but who still desires His people to repent and live. They call us to examine our own hearts: will we persist in rebellion or submit to the refining fire of God’s holiness?
📖 Overview of Ezekiel 20–21
🔹 Ezekiel 20 – Israel’s history of rebellion is recounted; God shows mercy for the sake of His name but calls for repentance.
🔹 Ezekiel 21 – The sword of the Lord is sharpened and unsheathed, symbolizing judgment against Jerusalem and the nations.
👑 God’s Patience and Purifying Judgment
Ezekiel 20–21 remind us that God is both merciful and just. He delays judgment to give space for repentance, but His holiness will not be mocked forever. We are invited to respond with humility, gratitude, and obedience, living in light of His mercy and under the seriousness of His justice.
