Welcoming The Holy Spirit Series
September 1st – Today, Pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit and for an increased awareness of Him.
đź’– Scripture for the Day
“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
— Ephesians 5:18
Reflection
The Christian life is not meant to be lived in our own strength. Just as a sailboat cannot move without the wind, we cannot walk in holiness without the Holy Spirit. Being “filled with the Spirit” is not a one-time event, but a daily posture of surrender and openness.
The Spirit fills us when we acknowledge our emptiness, confess our need, and open ourselves to God’s presence. As we yield, He shapes our thoughts, softens our hearts, and empowers us to live with joy, peace, and boldness.
To pray for filling is to invite God to take His rightful place as Lord in our lives—not just in church on Sunday, but in our thoughts, words, and actions today.
Daily Practice
Pause today and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh. Picture yourself as an empty vessel being poured into by His presence. As you go through the day, whisper this prayer whenever you remember: “Holy Spirit, increase my awareness of You.”
✍️ Journal Prompt:
When have you felt most aware of God’s presence in your life? Write about what it felt like and how it shaped your day.
Prayer
Holy Spirit,
I confess how easily I depend on myself instead of on You. Fill me today with Your presence and power. Heighten my awareness of You in every moment—in conversations, in quiet, and even in challenges. Teach me to walk in step with You and not in my own strength.
Amen.
