Where Comfort or Fear Rule

Welcoming The Holy Spirit Series

September 17 – Today, pray specifically for awareness of any areas where comfort or fear rule in your life.

đź’– Scripture for the Day

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7

Reflection

Fear and comfort can both be powerful influences. Fear holds us back, whispering lies that paralyze faith. Comfort can be just as dangerous, lulling us into complacency and keeping us from stepping into the bold life God has for us.

The Holy Spirit shines light on these hidden areas. He shows us where fear has too much sway and where comfort has numbed our urgency for God’s mission. His desire is not to condemn us but to free us—to replace fear with faith and comfort with courage.

Becoming aware of these areas is the first step toward freedom. When we see them clearly, we can surrender them to God and invite His Spirit to reign in their place.

Daily Practice

Set aside time today to pray honestly: “Lord, reveal where fear or comfort rule in my life.” Write down anything the Spirit brings to mind, and surrender those areas to Him.

✍️ Journal Prompt

What areas of your life are ruled more by fear or by comfort than by faith? How might surrendering these to God open you to greater freedom and boldness?

Prayer

Lord,
I confess that fear and comfort often take control in my life. Reveal these areas clearly to me. Replace fear with faith, and my desire for comfort with courage to follow You wholeheartedly. Fill me with Your Spirit so that only You rule in my heart.
Amen.
