The Gospel of Matthew opens the New Testament with the long-awaited arrival of the Messiah — Jesus Christ. Every genealogy, prophecy, and miracle points to God’s faithfulness through the ages. These chapters move from Jesus’ birth and early life to His baptism, temptation, and the start of His ministry. In chapter 5, we hear the Beatitudes — the heart of Jesus’ teaching, describing the character of those who belong to His kingdom. Through every moment, we see that God’s promises are fulfilled, His kingdom is at hand, and His invitation is open to all who will follow Him with humility and faith.
