Throwback Thursday:
Have you ever taken a moment to look back at where you were a year ago, five years ago, or even a decade ago? Sometimes, we get so caught up in the struggles of today that we forget just how far God has brought us. But reflecting on our past—our trials, our doubts, and even our victories—reminds us of His faithfulness.
I recently came across an old journal entry from a time when I felt completely lost. I had written, “God, where are You? I feel so uncertain about the future. I don’t understand what You’re doing.” At that moment, I was full of doubt, questioning whether God truly had a plan for me. I didn’t realize that He was already working behind the scenes, preparing my heart, aligning circumstances, and guiding me toward His will.
Months later, I wrote in the same journal, “God, You never left. I see now how You were leading me through every twist and turn. What felt like chaos at the time was actually You redirecting me toward something greater.”
Isn’t it amazing how hindsight reveals God’s presence?
The Power of Remembering
The Bible repeatedly encourages us to remember what God has done. Psalm 77:11-12 says, “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work and meditate on your mighty deeds.”
When we take time to reflect, we start to notice the subtle ways God has been working in our lives. Maybe He closed a door that you desperately wanted to walk through, only for you to realize later that it wasn’t right for you. Maybe He gave you unexpected strength to get through a season of loss, loneliness, or transition. Maybe He simply whispered truth into your heart when you needed it most.
Looking back strengthens our faith for today. If God has been faithful before, He will be faithful again. The same God who carried you through past storms will sustain you through whatever you’re facing now.
Sharing Our Testimony
One of the most beautiful things about remembering God’s faithfulness is that it allows us to encourage others. Your story—no matter how big or small—can remind someone else that they are not alone.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
Your past struggles and victories can serve as a testimony for someone else who is walking a similar path. What have you overcome with God’s help? How has He been your provider, your protector, your source of peace?
An Invitation to Reflect
Today, I want to invite you to take a moment to reflect. Maybe even pull out an old journal, scroll through past prayers, or just sit quietly with God and ask Him to remind you of His faithfulness.
💬 Let’s share together: What’s something God has brought you through?
