I. The Search We All Experience
Have you ever lost something really important? Maybe your car keys when you were already running late? Your wallet at the grocery store? Or, even worse, have you ever lost sight of your child for even a moment in a crowded place?
That feeling—the sinking in your stomach, the sudden panic—everything else stops until you find it. Nothing else matters. Because what you lost is too important to simply move on without it.
But what if I told you that deep inside, we’re all searching for something? Something we may not even realize we’ve lost? Something that no success, relationship, or accomplishment can fully satisfy?

II. Do You Even Realize That You’re Looking?
We spend our lives searching. Sometimes, we’re aware of it—we’re looking for meaning, purpose, peace. Other times, we don’t even recognize our search. We just know something feels… off. Unfulfilled.
We chase after relationships, promotions, financial security, or the perfect life, thinking, Maybe this will be it. Maybe this will make me feel whole. But even when we get those things, why do we still feel like something’s missing?
The truth is, there’s a longing in us that nothing in this world can satisfy. Because, as Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has also set eternity in the human heart.” You were made for something greater—Someone greater.
III. The Treasure in the Field
Jesus tells a short but powerful parable in Matthew 13:44:
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
Imagine stumbling upon a treasure chest full of gold, something so valuable that you’d gladly sell everything just to make it yours. That’s what Jesus says the Kingdom of Heaven is like.
But here’s the thing: so many of us are standing in the field, walking right past the treasure. We’re busy searching elsewhere, thinking happiness is found in career success, relationships, or material things. But those things, as good as they might be, are not the treasure.
What if the thing you’ve been looking for all along is Jesus?
IV. The Pearl of Great Worth
Jesus continues with another parable in Matthew 13:45-46:
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”
This merchant wasn’t just casually browsing—he was actively searching. And when he finally found the pearl, he knew it was worth giving up everything else.
What’s the “pearl” in your life? What have you been searching for, hoping it would bring peace, fulfillment, or identity? And if you found Jesus today—if you truly understood who He is—would you be willing to let go of everything else for Him?
V. Have You Found It?
That deep longing you feel? That sense that something is missing? It’s not just in your head. It’s a real, spiritual hunger—a call from the One who created you.
Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
The real question isn’t if you’re searching. The real question is: Where are you searching?
Are you looking for fulfillment in things that were never meant to satisfy? Or are you ready to turn to the only One who can?
VI. A Call to Seek and Find
Jesus isn’t hiding—He’s waiting.
In Matthew 7:7, Jesus gives us this incredible promise:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
He’s not playing hard to get. He’s not making you work for His love. He’s standing at the door, knocking, and waiting for you to simply open up.
So, let me ask you: Have you found what you’re looking for yet? Or are you still searching?
If you’re still searching, maybe it’s time to stop looking in all the wrong places. Maybe it’s time to turn to the One who has been calling you all along.
