🎼 Scripture of the Day
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” — Isaiah 40:8 (connected truth to Jeremiah 36–38)
These chapters vividly reveal how God’s word cannot be silenced, no matter how hard people try to resist it. In Jeremiah 36, King Jehoiakim arrogantly burns the scroll of prophecy, attempting to destroy God’s message. Yet God commands Jeremiah to write it again, showing His word endures forever. In chapter 37, Jeremiah is imprisoned for speaking the truth, but God’s message remains the same. Chapter 38 highlights Jeremiah’s suffering as he is cast into a cistern, only to be rescued by an unlikely ally. These passages remind us that God’s word is indestructible, and those who faithfully deliver it must trust Him even in suffering.

- 📌 Key Verse: Jeremiah 36:28 – “Take another scroll and write on it all the words that were on the first scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah burned in the fire.”
- 💡 Reflection: God’s word cannot be silenced or destroyed. Jehoiakim thought he could erase God’s message by burning the scroll, but God ensured His word was written again. His truth stands firm, even when rejected by people in power.
- ❓ Application: How do you treat God’s word—with reverence and obedience, or do you sometimes ignore what you don’t want to hear?
- 🔖 Jeremiah 37: The Cost of Speaking the Truth
- 📌 Key Verse: Jeremiah 37:17 – “Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, ‘Is there any word from the Lord?’”
- 💡 Reflection: Even as Jeremiah faced imprisonment, he remained faithful to deliver God’s message. The king wanted a comforting word but still resisted obedience. Sometimes the truth is unpopular, but God calls His people to speak it boldly.
- ❓ Application: When God’s truth is unpopular, do you remain faithful to speak and live it out, even if it costs you something?
- 🔖 Jeremiah 38: Suffering and Rescue
- 📌 Key Verse: Jeremiah 38:10 – “Then the king commanded Ebed-Melek the Cushite, ‘Take thirty men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.’”
- 💡 Reflection: Jeremiah’s faithfulness led to great suffering, but God provided an unlikely rescuer in Ebed-Melek, a foreigner. God often raises up help from unexpected places. His servants may face trials, but He will not abandon them.
- ❓ Application: Have you experienced God’s help in an unexpected way when you were going through a trial?
