💖 Scripture of the Day
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord… They will be like a tree planted by the water.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8
These chapters reveal both the heavy weight of Jeremiah’s prophetic calling and the unrelenting sin of Judah. God makes it clear that judgment is now unavoidable, even if Moses and Samuel were to intercede. Jeremiah pours out his heart, wrestling with feelings of loneliness and rejection, yet God renews His promise to strengthen and protect him. The Lord warns about misplaced trust—reminding His people that blessings come to those who rely on Him, while those who turn to human strength are like withered shrubs in the desert. Through images of the deceitful heart, the Sabbath, and the tree planted by water, we are called to trust, obey, and remain rooted in God’s ways.
📙 Overview of Jeremiah 15–17
- 🔹Jeremiah 15 – God’s Relentless Judgment and Jeremiah’s Lament
Even great intercessors couldn’t avert God’s judgment. Jeremiah voices his pain, and God promises protection if he remains faithful. - 🔹Jeremiah 16 – The Coming Exile and the Hope of Restoration
Jeremiah is told not to marry or have children as a sign of coming disaster, yet God also promises a future return for His people. - 🔹Jeremiah 17 – Trust in the Lord vs. Trust in Man
A striking contrast between those who rely on God—like trees by water—and those who trust in man—like barren shrubs. The chapter ends with a call to honor the Sabbath.
📢 Planted in Trust, Rooted in God
Jeremiah 15–17 reminds us that judgment is certain for the unrepentant, but those who trust in God remain strong and fruitful. Like a tree by water, we flourish when our roots go deep into His Word and promises.
