After years of halted progress, God raises up prophets Haggai and Zechariah to encourage the people to resume rebuilding the temple. Their words breathe new life into a weary community. The people respond with boldness, and once again, opposition comes. But this time, God turns it around. King Darius supports the work, orders expenses to be covered, and the temple is finally completed. Then Ezra, a priest and scribe, arrives in Jerusalem with God’s favor. He is devoted to studying and teaching God’s law, showing us that the restoration of the heart is as vital as restoring buildings. These chapters mark a shift from external construction to internal transformation. God is building up His people inside and out.
