These chapters capture the heartbreaking fall of Jerusalem, the fulfillment of Jeremiah’s warnings, and the aftermath for God’s people. In chapter 39, Jerusalem is conquered, and King Zedekiah faces the tragic consequences of disobedience. Yet Jeremiah is spared and protected, showing God’s care for His servant. Chapters 40–41 reveal the fragile attempts to restore order under Gedaliah, but rebellion and violence quickly follow.
