Embracing Courage in Your Calling

Truth Thursday:

Joshua 19 “Have I not commanded you Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

As we continue our May series, “Living with Purpose: Walking Boldly in Your Calling,” today’s focus is on embracing the courage that comes from trusting in God’s presence. Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to move forward despite it, anchored in the assurance that God is with us every step of the way.

📖 Scripture Focus: Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

This verse was God’s charge to Joshua as he stepped into leadership after Moses. Facing the daunting task of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, Joshua needed reassurance. God didn’t just suggest courage; He commanded it, coupling it with the promise of His unwavering presence.

🔍 Reflection

In our own lives, stepping into our calling can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s starting a new ministry, pursuing a passion, or making a significant life change, the path ahead can be filled with uncertainties. Yet, Joshua 1:9 reminds us that our strength doesn’t come from our abilities but from God’s presence. When we align ourselves with His purpose, He equips us with the courage needed to proceed.

Courage, in this context, is a divine empowerment. It’s the confidence that, regardless of the challenges, God is with us. This assurance transforms fear into faith and hesitation into action.

🛠️ Application

  • Acknowledge Your Fears: Recognize areas where fear holds you back.
  • Seek God’s Presence: Through prayer and meditation on His Word, invite God into those areas.
  • Take the First Step: Even a small act of obedience can lead to significant breakthroughs.
  • Encourage Others: Share your journey and how God’s presence has emboldened you.

🎨 Call to Action
