📖 Scripture of the Day

“Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people… but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.” — Jeremiah 45:5

These chapters reveal the heartbreaking stubbornness of God’s people after Jerusalem’s fall. Instead of trusting the Lord, they flee to Egypt—despite His warnings. Through Jeremiah, God declares judgment not only on His people for their rebellion but also on Egypt for its pride and false security. Yet even amid destruction, God reminds His people of His sovereignty over the nations and His faithful protection of a remnant. These chapters underscore that true security is only found in obedience to God, never in political alliances or human strength.

📖 Overview of Jeremiah 43–46

🔹 Jeremiah 43 – The people reject God’s word and flee to Egypt, dragging Jeremiah with them.
🔹 Jeremiah 44 – God warns the Jews in Egypt of judgment for their persistent idolatry.
🔹 Jeremiah 45 – A personal word of encouragement to Baruch, Jeremiah’s scribe, not to lose heart.
🔹 Jeremiah 46 – Prophecies of judgment against Egypt, showing God’s rule over the nations.

📢 God’s Word Cannot Be Escaped

Jeremiah 43–46 reminds us that running from God’s word leads only to deeper trouble. The people thought Egypt would save them, but only obedience could. God’s judgment shows His justice, while His promise to Baruch reveals His personal care. Over all nations and leaders, God remains sovereign. In Him, we find our true security.

Even when nations rage and people rebel, God’s word stands firm. We may feel small, like Baruch, or tempted to run, like the people fleeing to Egypt. But God reminds us: He sees, He rules, and He will protect those who trust Him.

💬 Discussion Question

Why do you think people often choose false security (like Egypt) instead of trusting God? How can we encourage one another to stay anchored in Him?

🙏 Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve run to false securities instead of trusting You. Help me to listen to Your word, obey Your commands, and rest in Your protection. May I encourage others to find their safety in You alone. Amen.
