My Sacred Space:
There’s something special about having a sacred space—a quiet corner where your heart meets God’s presence, away from the noise of life. For me, that place has become more than just a spot in my house; it’s a refuge for spiritual renewal and courageous faith.
So today, I want to invite you behind the scenes—not for show, but to encourage you to cultivate your own sacred space. A place where God can speak and you can truly listen.
My Bible Study Setup: A Simple, Peaceful Corner
My setup is simple, but intentional. I don’t have a full library or a Pinterest-worthy desk (although no shame if you do!). Here’s what my devotional space typically includes:
- Warm colors blue and white room with lots of windows and a cozy, inviting atmosphere
- My comfy rocker chair with a warm throw blanket—because I like to feel cozy and grounded.
- My favorite Bible, well-worn and marked up with notes, underlines, and little stars next to the verses that moved me.
- A journal, where I write down prayers, revelations, questions, and even the wrestlings of my heart.
- A cup of tea (or coffee if you prefer)—there’s just something about sipping warmth while soaking in truth.
- Soft instrumental worship music playing in the background (sometimes)—just enough to quiet the atmosphere.
- And lastly, a small lamp (or candle), bringing gentle light into the early morning stillness.
No fancy lighting. No elaborate décor. Just a space made holy by consistency and the presence of God.
What Happens in This Space?
This little corner has seen my tears, my questions, my joys, and my praise. I’ve brought every kind of emotion into that space, and God has met me in every one of them.
Some days I dive into Scripture and feel like the words leap off the page. Other days, I’m distracted, tired, or spiritually dry—but I still show up. Because this space reminds me: it’s not about performance. It’s about relationship.
I’m currently studying through the Old Testament and at this writing we’re in Joshua. I usually follow a “Read-Reflect-Pray-Write” rhythm:
- Read a short passage.
- Reflect on what God might be saying.
- Pray over what I read and what’s on my heart.
- Write down key verses or insights.
It’s in this rhythm that I’ve learned to quiet my thoughts, anchor my emotions, and renew my trust in God’s timing—especially during uncertain seasons.

Courageous faith doesn’t come from chaos—it’s cultivated in the quiet.
And that quiet starts with a choice to set aside time and space to meet with the One who renews us daily.
So whether your devotional space is big or small, fancy or plain, I hope today’s peek behind the scenes encourages you to be intentional and consistent. Because in that quiet space, faith is born. Faith is nurtured. And faith is made strong.
