A Biblical Perspective on Love

I heart you thru thru the face - A Biblical Perspective on Love

Relationship Reflection:

Love is one of the most powerful forces in our lives. It shapes our relationships, deepens our faith, and reveals the very heart of God. But in a world where love is often misunderstood or conditional, it’s so important to ground ourselves in true love—the kind that comes from God.

Today, let’s pause and reflect: What does the Bible say about love?

Love, the Greatest Commandment

When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, He didn’t hesitate:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”Matthew 22:37-39

Love is at the very core of our faith. It’s not just a feeling—it’s a commitment, an action, a choice. Jesus Himself showed us what love looks like in its purest form: sacrificial, selfless, and life-giving.

A Love That Reflects Christ

In our relationships—whether with family, friends, spouses, or even strangers—we are called to love in a way that reflects Christ.

  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 reminds us what real love looks like: “Love is patient, love is kind… it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs…”
  • Ephesians 4:2 encourages us to “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
  • 1 John 4:19 reminds us, “We love because He first loved us.”

When we love others with patience, kindness, humility, and forgiveness, we reflect God’s love to the world.
