💖 Scripture of the Day
“Seek the Lord and live.” — Amos 5:6
These chapters of Amos carry some of the most stirring calls to repentance and some of the strongest warnings of judgment. God pleads with His people to seek Him and live, not merely through ritual worship but through righteousness and justice. At the same time, Amos declares the certainty of judgment for unrepentant sin, describing vivid visions of locusts, fire, a plumb line, and a basket of ripe fruit. Yet even in the closing chapter, hope emerges: God promises to restore David’s fallen tent and bless His people again. These passages remind us that God’s justice is real, but His mercy is never far from those who turn back to Him.

📚 Bible Study Points and Reflections
- 🔖 Amos 5: Seek the Lord and Live
- 📌 Key Verse: Amos 5:6 – “Seek the Lord and live, or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire…”
- 💡 Reflection: God calls for living faith, not empty rituals. True worship shows itself in justice and righteousness.
- ❓ Application: How can you make sure your worship is matched by daily justice and obedience?
- 🔖 Amos 6: Woe to the Complacent
- 📌 Key Verse: Amos 6:1 – “Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria…”
- 💡 Reflection: Comfort and wealth can dull spiritual urgency. Complacency blinds us to the needs around us.
- ❓ Application: Where might comfort be keeping you from caring for others or obeying God’s call?
- 🔖 Amos 7: God’s Plumb Line
- 📌 Key Verse: Amos 7:8 – “The Lord said, ‘Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.’”
- 💡 Reflection: God measures His people against His standard, not theirs. His holiness cannot be compromised.
- ❓ Application: If God’s plumb line were set against your life today, where would He call for correction?
- 🔖 Amos 8: The End Has Come
- 📌 Key Verse: Amos 8:2 – “He said, ‘The time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.’”
- 💡 Reflection: Like ripe fruit, judgment had reached its fullness. Ignoring God’s word leads to famine of the soul.
- ❓ Application: How can you keep God’s Word central so your heart never grows spiritually starved?
- 🔖 Amos 9: Judgment and Restoration
- 📌 Key Verse: Amos 9:11 – “In that day I will restore David’s fallen shelter—I will repair its broken walls and restore its ruins…”
- 💡 Reflection: God’s justice is certain, but so is His mercy. The promise of restoration points to Jesus and His kingdom.
- ❓ Application: How does God’s promise of restoration give you hope in seasons of loss or discipline?
