“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23
In these closing chapters of Lamentations, the deepest grief turns toward hope. Chapter 3 is a powerful turning point: though Jeremiah feels crushed under the weight of suffering, he declares that God’s mercies are new every morning. In Chapters 4 and 5, the devastation of Jerusalem is described in painful detail, yet the book ends with a desperate but faith-filled plea for God’s restoration. These chapters remind us that lament is not the opposite of faith but an expression of it—pouring out sorrow while clinging to God’s steadfast love. Even in the darkest night, hope remains because God is faithful.
