💖 Scripture of the Day:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart…” – Ecclesiastes 3:11
Ecclesiastes opens with the voice of “the Teacher,” traditionally believed to be Solomon, who reflects on the fleeting nature of life. These first six chapters are brutally honest, exploring the emptiness of human pursuits when disconnected from God. Wisdom, work, pleasure, wealth—all are called “meaningless” or “vanity” when sought as ends in themselves. And yet, glimmers of truth shine through: joy is found in simple gifts, and God alone provides lasting satisfaction. Ecclesiastes doesn’t avoid the hard questions of life; it wrestles with them in a way that invites deep reflection and humble faith.
📙 Overview of Ecclesiastes 1–6
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 1: The Teacher introduces the theme: “Everything is meaningless.” Human effort seems to accomplish little that truly lasts.
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 2: Solomon explores pleasure, achievements, and possessions—but finds them all hollow without purpose in God.
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 3: A time for everything. God has placed eternity in our hearts, but we cannot fully grasp His work.
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 4: Observations of injustice, envy, and loneliness point to the need for companionship and compassion.
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 5: Cautions on how to approach God with reverence. Wealth doesn’t satisfy, but fearing God leads to peace.
- 🔹 Ecclesiastes 6: Even great riches and long life are meaningless if a person can’t enjoy them. True fulfillment is a gift from God.
📢 Meaning Found in God Alone
Ecclesiastes 1–6 reminds us that apart from God, even the best of life can feel hollow. But with Him, every season, task, and gift has purpose. The Teacher doesn’t just deconstruct meaning—he gently points us back to the only One who gives it.
📚 Bible Study Points and Reflections
- 🔖 Ecclesiastes 1: Meaningless Without God
- 📌 Key Verse:.Ecclesiastes 1:14 – “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
- 💡 Reflection: A life lived “under the sun,” apart from God, will always feel empty. We were made for more than what this world can offer.

- 📌 Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 2:11 – “Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done… everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
- 💡 Reflection: Even good things like work and success can feel empty when we don’t see them through the lens of God’s greater plan.

- Ecclesiastes 3: A Time for Everything
- 📌 Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

- 💡 Reflection: True joy is not in possessions but in perspective. Without God, even abundance feels empty.
- ❓ Application: Are you asking God not just for provision, but for the ability to enjoy what you already have?
✨ Encouragement of the Day
Ecclesiastes is not a book of despair but of perspective. It strips away illusions and invites us into a deeper, simpler trust in God. While life “under the sun” may feel aimless, life under God’s rule is full of meaning, beauty, and quiet joy.

💬 Discussion Question
Why do you think we often look for meaning in things that don’t last? What does this reveal about our hearts?
🙏 Prayer: Lord, You alone give life meaning. Forgive me for chasing things that do not last. Teach me to find joy in You and not in empty pursuits. Help me to see Your hand in every season and to honor You with the gifts You have given. May my heart rest in the purpose You provide. Amen.
