The book of Proverbs opens with a father’s heartfelt appeal to his son: listen, learn, and live wisely. Proverbs 1–4 lay the foundation for a life shaped by godly wisdom. These chapters contrast the voice of wisdom with the allure of foolishness, warning against temptation and offering instruction that leads to honor, protection, and peace. Wisdom isn’t just knowledge—it’s the skill of living well in God’s world. We are urged to treasure it, seek it, and walk in it daily. These opening chapters remind us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, and obedience to His Word brings true life.
