Heart of Service

Heart of Service copy - A woman serving at a function

As we come to the final days of our February devotional series on love, we turn our focus to a vital aspect of Christlike love—serving others. Love isn’t just about words; it’s about action. Jesus Himself demonstrated this truth through His life, ministry, and ultimate sacrifice.

A Heart That Serves

The Bible teaches us that true greatness comes from serving others. Jesus set the ultimate example in John 13:14-15 when He washed the feet of His disciples:

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”John 13:14-15 (NIV)

Serving others is an outward expression of God’s love working within us. It shifts our focus from ourselves to the needs of those around us, helping us reflect the kindness and humility of Christ.

Living Out Love Through Service

Here are some simple yet impactful ways to serve others this week:

  • Encourage someone with a kind note, call, or message.
  • Volunteer at a shelter, church, or community event.
  • Help a neighbor with groceries, childcare, or small tasks.
  • Pray for someone who is struggling and let them know you are thinking of them.
  • Give generously—whether it’s your time, resources, or simply a listening ear.

May we all embrace the heart of service, knowing that each act of kindness is a reflection of God’s love in this world. 💛
